FOM: Elected Officials Vow To Us or CCSS?

Today’s anti Common Core “Fib-o-Meter” post will be a bit different from my usual ones. Why? Because it has struck me as rather bittersweet lately that those who are elected to serve us appear to be vowing more and more to Common Core (and all that goes with it) than we, the people. So, follow along with me for a special edition of “Fib-o-Meter” Friday.

An Oath:

If I were to meet you face to face and ask you what does the word ‘oath’ mean; what would be your response?

For me it’s not just a promise. It’s more than that. It’s a commitment. It’s a  lifestyle you choose to uphold. It’s a decision you face every single day. Will I uphold my oath? Will I not uphold my oath?

Now I know, just as you do, that we are reminded daily in several ways how those we elected appear to be so taken with everything else except us. This is a “Total Truth”. It’s also a “Total Truth” that many of those we did put into office ARE standing up against CCSS. It’s also “Total Truth” that even more officials support parts of the CCSS, but not others. For the life I of me, how can you be for ANY part of it when you took an oath to serve the people?!

So, what is the officially ‘correct’ definition of the word ‘oath’? Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary has this entry:

‘a formal and serious promise to tell the truth or to do something’ 

The ‘something’?? ‘sincerely intends to do what one says (2) :  a solemn attestation of the truth or inviolability of one’s words’

THE Oaths (all “Total Truths”):

Here’s what the U.S. President’s Oath states: “I, <name>, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Here’s what the members of the U.S. Congress have for their oath: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

Every federal employee takes the SAME oath as the members of Congress.

Every armed service member takes a similarly worded oath. The difference between officers and enlisted members is the enlisted are to expressly follow orders, whereas officers can break an order IF it violates the U.S. Constitution. As far as the 50 U.S Governors across America and other state level officials, they too must take an oath of office. I’ve not been able to find one location where each of the states oaths are, so I’m offering our sitting governor’s oath as an example. The video is just under 1:30 minutes.

Why All This Matters in Respect to Common Core:

Maybe it’s just me..but I’ve been reminded quite succinctly, lately, that those who’ve taken this oaths have NOT done what they swore to do to the best of their ability. Much less to the best of their knowledge. How can that be when SO much knowledge about Common Core is out there? How can they claim “I didn’t know about CCSS being more than K-12.” or other statements of the kind.

Maybe it’s the successes of all those who are ‘opting’ out of the high stakes assessments and have those officials in somewhat of a panic.

Either way, I’m sensing somewhat of a shift in those who swore to not only uphold their offices, but protect our Constitution. I say somewhat based on the fact that recently (during the NC Academic Standards Review Committee Meeting) out of all the elected state level officials NC has, I counted only 2 in the meeting. That, my warriors, is awful.

Here’s another reason these oaths matter in light of CCSS….and MY question to each of those federal, state, and local….

HOW CAN YOU UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION WHEN YOU ALIGN TO SUPPORT COMMON CORE?!

The “Total Fallacy” of It All:

When you’ve taken an oath of office, the ‘Total Fallacy‘ that you can support the citizens by allowing any part of CCSS to exist is simply this, ladies and gentlemen who are elected: you CAN’T.

The entire debacle is un- Constitutional! It’s a domestic enemy! Every time you continue to allow Career Tech Education, rebrands of CCSS, Career Pathways, Workforce Education, high stakes assessments, textbooks that are rewritten to teach America is a hostile nation, YOU are the domestic enemy! Instead of keeping your oath to do all you can to protect, you’ve replaced it with a pledge to the CCSS Machine (all those fund, create, and continue to purport CCSS) The fact that federal funding has been accepted to help further align has happened of each of your ‘watches’ in office! How is that protecting the people OR defending the Constitution?!

Here’s, my version, of the pledge you’ve sacrificed us all for:

“I pledge my allegiance to the Core and to the deterioration for which it exists.
I have pledged my support to the degrading of my people which CCSS ensues.
That being one way to learn, for all, indivisible and rigor for all.”

Closing:

Warriors, I hope you’ve been inspired to continue to give your elected officials “Total Truths” about CCSS to dispel the “Total Fallacies” which have turned their heads, hardened their hearts, and lined their states purses with money.

Warriors, I trust that we, Together, can continue to rise up and defeat the CCSS Machine!
